A couple posts back, I wrote about the upcoming Florida Prize Exhibition Preview Party. Being a huge art love I was super excited about the event! I was looking forward to seeing the work that would be on display.
Along side that, ten local restaurants created mini bites inspired by the artists and their creations. How freaking cool is that? One thing I’m extremely proud of is the food scene here in Orlando. We have some fantastic chefs here with some stellar restaurants. Being a high tourist area people fall back on chain restaurants. If you’re vacationing in Orlando I HIGHLY suggest you check out some of our local eateries.
The art scene in the area is growing. The Orlando Museum of Art is beautiful and one of my favorite places in the city. I know it’s not like the museums in New York but it’s wonderful all the same.
Before checking out the actual Florida Prize Exhibit I had to take a look around. I wanted to check out the current exhibitions on display.
They had some really beautiful pieces. One of the exhibits currently at the museum I loved was the “People and Place” which spans of the course of 200 years. After checking out the current exhibitions, we made our way to the main event! I was super impressed by the ten artists and their featured creations.
Some of my favorite restaurants were there that night, like Bulla Gastrobar and Soco (both of which have FABULOUS brunches!) as well as some others I have never been to like Reyes. My favorite of the night actually ended up being Reyes. I’m really looking forward to going to their actual restaurant now.
The Aguachile from Reyes was simple, yet flavorful and delicious. The shrimp was definitely fresh and juicy. I could literally make a meal out of it,thrown in a nice glass of wine and you’d have a very happy Kimberly.
The attire of the evening called for “casual chic” which I’m totally down with. I’m all about keeping things casual yet stylish! Bring on the chic, darling!
I kept it classic and clean with black pants, a black shirt, a white blazer cape and these adorable slip ons from Shein.com. I’ve been obsessing over my Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis. I’ve been carrying it everywhere.
My blazer cape is one of my most favorite pieces in my closet! I got mine from Nordstrom, I ended up buying other colors as well because they make any outfit look chic. Shein.com offers a really great one as well at a lower price point if you’re looking to try out the trend without spending the bucks.
My slip ons from Shein are my current shoe obsession. Best part: They were under $40 and are SUPER comfy. Score! And how adorable is that pearl detail? Love it!
At the end of the night I left feeling so inspired by all the talent I just witnessed! I wanted to out and create something meaningful. I thought about the work that went in to their pieces. The process of creating is a beautiful thing all within itself.
If you have a museum near you go and check it out if you haven’t! If you live in Orlando or are planning to visit, visit the Orlando Museum of Art . The “Florida Prize in Contemporary Art” exhibit will be there until August 20th. With summer now here you can beat the heat by spending some time by learning and admiring 🙂
When was the last time you went to a museum? Do you have a favorite museum?
Until next time,

It has been a very long time since I have been to a museum, sadly. I think the last one I went to was the Peterson Automobile Museum in L.A. Not quite what you had in mind, I am sure, but as I love old cars and my partner is a car nut it seemed like a great way to spend an afternoon.

No, that definitely sounds cool! I think any museum is great, they are all learning tools. I would LOVe to visit a car museum, I’ve yet to go to one. I’ve gone to a few car shows and while I’m not a car freak it was still very interesting. I got to learn something about the individuals who owned the cars and their stories. <3
