I’m having a major skin obsession right now. You can currently find me binge reading Lauryn Evarts blog, The Skinny Confidential, and re-watching her Youtube videos a million times over. Lauryn is a skincare goddess. Without being said, I’ve picked up a few of her tips and have been implementing them into my own routine (hello facial massage). I’ve also fallen in love with Korean skin care routines and products. I can go over my whole routine in another blog post.
But I’ve taken some information from Lauryn’s blog and various other Korean skin care posts to come up with something that works for me.
I would say I was a fan of facial massage before, but I’ve stepped up my game and have taken it to a new level. Being part Asian, facial massage is well known in many Asian skincare routines. But back in the day I’d use vitamin C oil and a Chinese soup spoon for facial massage. Boy how times have changed!
Let me show you some skincare favorites I’m loving right now!
I wanted to highlight my current game changers and products I’m obsessing over.
1. VII Code O2M Oxygen Eye Mask
As I get older, caring for my eye area as become more of a priority. I will say, I’m not the best with the area around my eyes. I have itchy eyes so I have a BAD habit of rubbing them which is such a big no-no. As I get older though I’m taking the steps necessary to make sure those pesky signs of aging aren’t showing. I love these gel eye masks because they have definitely helped with signs of aging and feel great. Now, I’m a stomach sleeper (I know, I know! It’s bad!) so I don’t sleep with these on. If you’re someone that sleeps on your back I definitely recommend sleeping with them on to reap the full benefits. I however, wear them during a self care day. I’ll do a face mask, put these babies on and watch a movie.
2. Facial Tools
Like mentioned earlier, I love facial massage! I have three tools that I love and use constantly. The first is the micro-needle roller. I ordered mine from Amazon for around $7, which you can’t beat! My pain tolerance isn’t the best I’ll admit that I’m a wuss but this is totally doable. It really doesn’t hurt. As someone who suffers from acne scarring and readness this has helped me 10000000%. You do have it change it out every couple of months but at $7 it’s not a deal breaker. I use the micro needle roller about two-three times a week and apply a hydrating, brighting serum.
My jade roller is also from Amazon, and I love it! The one I buy comes in a two pack which is great value. I use it almost everyday. I keep one on my vanity and one in my freezer. If you’re feeling generous, you could alway give your spare to someone you love 🙂 But I use this after applying my serums. It’s really helped with float and keeping those wrinkles at bay.
My last favorite facial tool is my facial “massager”. Again from Amazon this product is affordable and gets the job done. I use this after applying eye cream or using my eye mask, I just massage the area with light pressure using this device.
3. Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask
I CANNOT fave about this anymore then I already do. This product is amazing and a definite game changer. After using this, I wake up with the softest, glow-iest skin ever! The moisturizer is just as amazing. It’s great for almost all skin types. As an oily girl, this works wonderfully well for me. It helps even out my complexion (yes and yasss!) and actually helps control my oils! I’m telling you, if you don’t use this…. USE IT NOW.
4. The Ordinary Products
Hurray for affordable skincare that actual works! I have a handful (okay maybe several handfuls) of The Ordinary products that I love. However, the top three pictured are my absolute loves and ones I recommend all the time. Remember, I have oily, acne prone skin with a lot of hyper pigmentation and scarring. So my goal is to even out my skin tone and make sure those pesky pimples stay away!
- Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicone: If you’re sensitive to Silicone then stay away, however if you’re not get you some of this! It’s great at brightening your skin and reducing the signs of aging. This is best applied at night, but can be applied AM and PM.
- Salicylic Acid 2% Solution: For $5.30 can you go wrong?! This has helped my acne tremendously and I’m not exaggerating at all. This helps exfoliate the skin and clear out your pores.
- AHA 30%+BHA 2% Peeling Solution: Again, at $7.20 this product can’t be beat. It does however sell out a lot because of it’s price and how well it works. For my acne prone people you need this and the Salicylic Acid Solution. This well help with scarring and help fight acne. If you have sensitive skin I may not recommend this because it has a high concentration of acid. I’ve had acid peels before and my skin isn’t too sensitive to products like this. I use this twice a week ( no more then that!) and use it like a mask. I wash my face making sure it’s very clean. Do not apply this if your face is still wet. I leave it on for 10 minutes then wash off.
- Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution: Hands down the best glycolic acid toner out there and this 240ml bottle is $8.70!! I use this for my acne scarring and discoloration. I do not use this everyday, make three-four times a week. But it’s helped out SOOOO much with my texture and coloring. AHHH-MAZING.
These are my current beauty favorites and products I recommend. I still have a ton of other Korean beauty products I use and love but I’ll do a separate post on that. Have you used any of these products? What are things you recommend? Let me know in the comments below!
Until next time,
