I’m picky when it comes to my hair products. Hair is important! It’s your crowing glory. Your hair says a lot. My problem is that I don’t have naturally beautiful hair and this Florida humidity doesn’t mix well with it! My hair is super tangly, slightly unruly and a lot of stubborn!
I have my army of go-to products to tame and make my hair presentable. Its taken me a while to find products that work for me (I have a new addition to my #hairgoals squad) but these are my tried and true, ride or die products I love! I unfortunately don’t have a shampoo/conditioner I love enough to share, so please share your recommendations with me.
My hair type: Thick, oily, dry at the end, tangly and frizz prone.
I absolutely love hair oils. I just recently bought the Ouai Hair Oil but I already love it! As some of you may know, I’ve been loving the Dry Bar 100 Proof Treatment Oil for some time now. Hair oils can be tricky because there are a fair amount of really good ones on the market but finding one that DOESN’T weigh down your hair can be hard. I found that both these oils are great at making my hair look beautiful without the heavy feeling. AND I’m someone who has naturally oily hair and these don’t contribute to making my hair oily. You only need the tiniest amount from both brands because a little definitely goes a long way with these products. Living in Florida means I’m always having to fight frizz and humidity and these are my go to products for that.
Attention: If there’s ONE product I would recommend to everyone it would be the Dry Bar’s Prep Rally spray. So here’s the thing, I have EXTREMELY tangly hair like it’s bad guys. And the only thing that really helps is this product. As soon as I hop out of the shower, I towel dry my hair and spray this all over my hair. I let it sit for 5-10 minutes and brush it out. Not only does it do my hair right but it smells incredible 🙂 Not only is it the best detangler, it makes your hair healthy! It makes my hair soft and shiny; major bonus is it REDUCES dry time. I have long, thick hair and this is a life saver for me. If you’re not using this already do yourself a favor and GET IT!
I had tried out the Extraordinary Clay Shampoo and Conditioner via Influenster and I did like it. I stopped using it though because it did make my scalp pretty dry. Before I stopped using it I went out and purchased the Dry Shampoo and I will say I do love this product! This definitely absorbs oil but doesn’t weigh down my hair. I’ve found that a lot of other dry shampoos end up making my hair look worse than before application! Like it almost makes my hair look oiler, this does not do that. It does what it claims to do and smells great.
There’s a reason why there’s so much hype behind this. IT’S AMAZING. If you’re looking to add texture and volume to your hair, Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray is where it’s at! It’s one hair product I don’t mind spending the money on because it’s just that freaking good.
If you’re on the market for a cheaper alternative, definitely go with Dry Bar’s Triple Sec. I tend to use this on a more daily basis because it’s much cheaper than the Oribe spray. From my experience it’s the ONLY spray that comes close to Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray.
Finally, as far as hair tools go my GHD Straightener has been with me from all those bad hair days to those glorious #hairgoal days. I couldn’t find the exact pink one I have online but as I was looking I came across a copper one that I now have my eyes on…. So maybe a new straightener will make it’s way into my little hands 😉 Anyways, I love GHD tools because they are built to last. My straightener heats up SUPER fast which is something I look for in a straightener.
Have you used any of the above products? Share your thoughts below! Also, what hair products do you recommend? Like I mentioned before, I’m still searching for my ride or die shampoo and conditioner so any recommendations would be appreciated.
Until next time-
** Please note that all opinions are my own! I was not paid nor where any of these products sent to me. I have purchased all products with my OWN money. Some links are affiliate links.

Good article and easy to read. I have short hair and have none of your problems. Like you, I do like to try different products – some at the suggestion of my hairstylist and some just by visiting Ulta and reading lots of labels.

I have super unbelievably tangled hair. Especially out of the shower. I HATE brushing my hair wet or dry. I’m always looking for a good detangler. Thanks

Oh yeah the detangler is AMAZING also I use the leya Milani hair brush, it’s the only brush I’ll ever use. I used those wet combs and they’re okay but the milani brush really gets out knots and makes brushing my hair wet super easy. I totally forgot to add it in this post lol

Gonna have to try some of these. Does the clay dry shampoo come out powder-y like some others or clear? 🙂
kimberlyloveless says
It’s a TAD powdery but mostly clear. I like that it’s a little powdery though cause I feel like I’m working with something lol. I have dark hair and it doesn’t leave any weird powder marks

You do a lot for your hair! Hmm I may have to try out that L’Oreal dry shampoo.
I agree, the Oribe smells amazing… but so expensive!
I hate using pricey hair products – I always feel like I just wash it down the drain so I don’t like to spend more than $10.

lol I grew up watching my grandma and all her extensive beauty routines so I’ve unfortunately picked up the same habits lol none of beauty routines are quick and simple…it’s like the more the merrier for me ?

I recently tried dry bar’s dry shampoo and LOVED it! I heard about 100 proof but was worried it’d make my hair too oily, but I think you’ve convinced me to try it out!
