Both laser and non-laser skin therapies have been used by skincare experts for a very long time to help people just like you to reclaim youthful looking skin and reverse skin damage. But if you want to try a skin treatment to help yourself look younger and healthier you can’t just draw the name of a skincare technique out of a hat and make an appointment to have it performed. You have to actually learn about your treatment options and make an educated decision about your best possible treatment process.
Light Therapy is One Treatment Option
One way you can help your skin to stay healthy is with light therapy. Namely, intense pulsed light can be used to reduce scars caused by acne, as long as you are not still suffering from active acne outbreaks. IPL is also capable of revitalizing your skin in other ways slowly over time by getting your body to heal itself with more collagen production and other healing processes. However, it is typically a mild form of treatment not meant to treat moderate to severe skin complaints.
For Treatment of Larger Skin Ailments Lasers May Help
While they are not the strongest possible skincare treatments, lasers can be used to treat skin problems that are more severe than those treatable with IPL devices. Lasers can be beneficial in a number of ways. For example, some lasers are able to treat sun spots or blemishes with accuracy and precision. Other medical laser equipment is specially designed to treat all layers of the skin for results deeper down in the tissues. For instance, some lasers are able to trigger increases in the amounts of collagen and other cellular building blocks produced by the body, strengthening skin cells over time.
The main laser categories are ablative and non-ablative. Ablative lasers often impact the outer layer of skin, as well as deeper tissues. Non-ablative lasers are more stealthy in that they can treat deeper layers without impacting the outer skin layer at all. However, such treatments take longer to show any positive impact. Fraxel layers, which essentially drill tiny shafts through the skin to promote healing, are also viable skincare choices depending on the condition or conditions you wish to treat.
You May Also be Able to Use Sound to Benefit Your Skin
Although it may sound unusual, the vibrations caused by certain sound frequencies can promote cellular healing. In fact, both ultrasound skincare treatments and radio frequency therapy have been used for quite a while to improve skin health. The main benefit of such treatments over lasers is that they do not involve intense heat, which means that you may be a candidate for them even if your skincare specialist recommends against heat-based skin treatment.
Other Popular Ways to Enhance Your Skin Health
When it comes to enhancing your skin health there are lots of other options from which you can pick. If you desire clinical treatment then you can explore the use of chemical peels or microdermabrasion to give your skin a healthier glow. You may also find it beneficial to use at-home treatment methods such as skincare kits or lotions. Although, most at-home treatments are not as effective as the procedures you can have performed in your local skincare clinic. So, before making a final decision, it’s best to ask your local skincare clinician for advice.
You should keep in mind that any clinical treatment you have performed may need to be repeated. The amount of repetition will depend on your level of skin health. At home skincare routines should also be stuck to on an ongoing basis to maintain the health of your skin.

I got laser hair removal on my underarms. I got rid of about 80% of the hairs but I got too sensitive to the laser so I stopped going. I also got IPL to get rid of freckles on my cheeks and it worked really well but after a few sessions they increased the intensity and my skin got “burned” a bit. So I can only tolerate it to a certain level.
