I’ve considered myself a pretty “lucky” person. If I want something, I generally always get it. And when I don’t get it? I adjust my attitude and sure enough it will come to me. I was practicing the law of attraction since I was a child, but little did I know that was what I was doing. Even though we didn’t have much money when I was a child, I still managed to get everything I wanted. I had a thought, put it out into the world, and waited to receive it. As I got older, I continued to do the same but this time with a little more action in place.
Through my years of learning, reading and practicing I’ve come to realize that there is one very important key element to manifestation. It’s one word, it’s simple and unfortunately so many of us fail in this department…. Gratitude.
GRATITUDE AND MANIFESTATION
In my own humble opinion, I would say gratitude is one the biggest key elements when it comes to manifestation. Why? Because realizing what you have and being grateful for those things, opens you up to receive more blessings from the universe. How can the universe give you something when you’re not even happy or thankful for what you have now?
The lack of gratitude can be a huge block when it comes to manifestation. I know a lot of books, gurus, podcasts and everything in between in regards to manifestation will talk about gratitude and its importance. But here’s the thing, it’s so crucial but something we often overlook even when we are aware of its importance!
Think of it this way: Imagine your best friend’s birthday is coming up. She tells you what she wants and you go out and get her exactly what she requested. The day of her birthday, you go out to dinner and bring her that perfect present. You’re so excited to give her the gift but when you give it to her, she opens it and unethistically she says, “Thanks,” but there’s no joy or excitement in her face. But then another friend gives her their gift and she’s excited and gushes about how much she loves it.
How would that make you feel? Would you be inclined to put in the work next time? Would you even want to give her something again?
WHY DO WE SKIP GRATITUDE?
Gratitude is something that is so easy to overlook. When we are living in a current state of fear, anxiety or doubt, being thankful can be a hard task. It’s difficult to be thankful because we are focused on the negative things that are happening in our current state. We think of all these negative whys and hows. But when we are in those states, the time for gratitude is crucial!
Sure, we can have some really bad things happen in our lives. We all go through some dark things but it is within our power to look at those things in a different light. And trust me, I get that it can be hard! However, when you focus on the negative, you fail to see the good that may be coming into your life! Think of it as if you’re looking through a tunnel. You miss the good that surrounds you because you’re focused on all the bad instead. And when you focus on bad and negative things, more of that comes your way. Why? Because in the law of attraction, like attracts like. You have opened yourself to negativity. You’ve said, “Here I am. I have accepted this, I’m living and I’m open to more of it.”
Even of the hardest, most traumatizing situations in our lives have a golden light at the end of the tunnel. Heck, that golden light surrounds you always! Even when you don’t feel it or acknowledge it. The universe WANTS you to be happy and abundant, it wants you to be living in your highest vibration. When you are thriving, the universe is thriving.
PRACTICING DAILY GRATITUDE TO MANIFEST ALL YOUR DESIRES
How do we practice daily gratitude? There are a number of ways you can do this. In my personal opinion, I find that writing is the best way for me to express my gratitude. Here are some ways you can practice daily gratitude in order to step up your manifestations:
- Journaling: I’m all about journaling! That’s something I’ll touch on as well on another post and how powerful it is to LOA. But I have a separate journal that I use to ONLY write about what I am grateful for. I only write ONE thing everyday. I will generally write one full page about WHY I am grateful for that thing (it can be a person, an item, even an event!). At the end of my page, I write the same mantra on all my gratitude pages: I am open to all blessings. Great things come effortless to me and I am forever grateful for all the abundant blessings.
- Talk Journaling: Okay, so I understand that not everyone might be into writing so another thing I might suggest is keeping a journal on your phone. However, instead of typing out what you want to say, you ACTUALLY say it. So you know how your phone has the talk to text feature? Use it for your daily gratitude! There’s also something powerful about speaking your gratitude out loud. But if you keep it in the form of a journal, you can go back and read what you’ve “written”, so to speak! LOL
- Driving Gratitude: I do this one a lot. Whenever I’m driving, I just talk out loud and talk about all the things I am grateful for. I can focus on that day and what things have gotten me into that vibration of thankfulness. Or I can just run off a list of everything I am grateful for. Whatever feels good or works for you, do it. Again, speaking those things out in the Universe is so powerful. It’s like physically raising those vibrations, the Universe has no other choice BUT to hear you and send more of those feel good vibes to you!
- Guided Meditations: I’m a HUGE fan of guided meditations. I do my best when I have someone guiding me through the process. There are a TON of free guided meditations online, from Youtube to even Spotify! All you need to do is search, “Gratitude Meditation”. Also, if you’re not meditating you really need to get on that! It’s life changing.

I keep a gratitude journal that I try and write a small list to appreciate the things I do have. I notice when I do it, my day goes a little better.
