I have a handful of foundations that I use and love, but I have my three favorites when it comes to “higher” end foundations. These are my ride or dies, my holy grail products. They never do me wrong and I can always count on them to do what they claim.
- Becca’s Ultimate Coverage Complexion Creme: I don’t remember which Youtuber it was who raved about this but it sparked enough interest in me to go out and check it out for myself. I don’t think it’s something I would have picked up on my own because I’m not so drawn to Becca products. (Although I do have a few Jaclyn Hill products that I love.) But I’m glad I picked this up. It does everything I want it to do. Because I have a lot of hyper pigmentation and acne scarring, I’m looking for something with a heavier coverage that won’t melt off or make me look cakey and I think this does just that. I will say that if you have any dryness though, this will pick that up so this may not work well for someone with dry skin. I’m oily/combination so this does work for me.
- Chanel’s Perfection Lumiere Velvet: I’ve heard/seen mixed reviews for this foundation online but I have to say it works wonderfully for me. I use a Beauty Blender to apply and it goes on smoothly. It can be medium to full coverage so it is build-able. But my major pros for this: it lasts all day, covers what I did it to cover AND looks natural on my skin. Winning!
- Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation: I mean I could talk about this foundation all day long, and I know I’ve mentioned it several times already on my blog. This is the creme de la creme! My real ride or die. I’ve been using this foundation for years now, and anytime I stray away… I ALWAYS COME BACK. I’m in the shade Desert Beige and it’s my perfect shade. It does everything the other two do PLUS more.
What are your holy grail foundations? Are they high end or drug store? Let me know what you love in the comments below!

wow! a very curious question though? i have read and heard this a lot, that makeup should be discarded after 6 months? is it true? i mean with so many foundations, how can we do away with them within 6 months? and how can we trash them after having spent a fortune on them? ;'(

Ah yes, I hear that all the time but honestly I don’t really follow that. For one, I go through my foundations pretty fast so I don’t have anything that would last that long and if I did, then it means I didn’t like it so I’ll either give it to someone or just toss it.
My Becca and Chanel Founations don’t match me perfectly so I do mix them together so when I use one, I use both.
But generally my rule of thumb is if the makeup starts smelling bad, I toss it. You know how the scent changes? Like it has a stronger smell? That’s my sign it has to go lol

Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation is BAE! 🙂
kimberlyloveless says
True! Nars Foundations are all good 🙂 I used to use Sheer Glow all the time but I found a good drugstore dupe so I stopped buying Nars. I find the Nars foundations to be pretty similar to the Chanel ones as well, like the formulas are almost the same.

I’ve not tried any of those!
I’ve just realized that I’m so fickle about foundations. My top foundation is probably the Shiseido Sheer & Perfect. But not sure if I could name 3 top ones!

Ohhh I love Shiseido products but I’ve never really used their cosmetics. The Estee Lauder one as always been more go to and it was the only one I used for years but I need to switch things up sometimes lol
