Fact: Pink is my favorite color. Unfortunately, pink does not look great on my pale skin. Red however looks pretty good one me. I get the most compliments when I wear red. So a mixture of red and black take over my wardrobe. I picked up this off the shoulder dress from Hautelook, one of my favorite sites. Do you guys remember back in the day when all the beauty Youtubers talked about Hautelook all the time? I still shop there, especially since it’s a Nordstrom company. Hello good deals!
I’ve been obsessing over this dress since I’ve gotten it. I’ve already worn it a handful of times but don’t tell anyone! I can’t find the exact dress, since it was on flash sale, but there are similar ones here and here that I like. I recently got my hands on the ever popular Cult Gaia clutch which I’ll be honest I don’t like. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on it though when I’ve worn it. But it’s not practical at all. First off, it’s SMALL. A lot smaller than it looks in pictures, granted I did buy the smaller size. Forget about keeping loose change in there as well because guess what? It’s going to fall right through! Anyways, it’s a cute bag but it’s not functional or practical. I’d say skip it unless you really feel like it’s something you have to have in your collection.
So I’ve been reading a lot of articles and blog posts about being “authentic” and/or presenting an image through social media. This is a topic I find interesting because I spend a lot of time on social media AND share myself through different social media mediums as well. I guess for me I know the reality of “what’s real and what’s not”. There’s a certain image people what to present and I know this.
I share the good parts of my life because that’s what I WANT. Everything is not butterflies and rainbows. I can’t complain about my life but I am human and have my ups and downs. For the past three-four years I’ve been dealing with some pretty bad migraines. Sometimes they take over my day and really make me hate life, that’s not something I want to share on social media. First, I don’t want a pity party and two, it’s just not fun! I do however share my issue sometimes because I know a lot of you face a similar challenge. It’s important to let people know that they’re not alone.
I also want to share the happy parts of my life because there is just so much negativity and sadness that’s shown sometimes. Yes, I realize that there are important issues going on. Things that impact millions of people. I try to make a difference one way or another either through volunteering or donating to charity. I like to believe people are aware of the issues. While I know parts of my blog may seem shallow, like fashion and beauty, these are things that are my escape. Topics that make me feel happy and I’m sure since you’re here they make you happy too. Happiness is important ESPECIALLY during these trying times.
I bet you didn’t expect my #whatiworewednesday post to take this turn. LOL But seriously, do what makes you happy, live a life YOU want. We all have our moments and it’s vital that we remember that. I don’t want to focus on the bad things, I want to push forward. If something’s not going my way in my life, I try not to dwell on it or complain. Instead, I make a change and try to change the situation into something that works for me!
So my challenge for you is to ask yourself, what are you thankful for? What makes you happy? And in turn, go out and do something that makes someone else happy! Spread that positivity and do something good for someone else. You’d be surprised how much joy that will bring you.
Until next time,
ALSO:
So I have to share this because it’s not the most flattering picture of me (hello, double chin much?) BUT it’s one of my favorites because a guy came up and told me I looked beautiful. He made some jokes and I let out the biggest belly laugh right here. YOUR WORDS MATTER, so make them matter in a good way. 🙂

Very cute dress! I wonder if I find one in plus size somewhere. Hmmm… Thanks for the honest feedback on the bag. I’ve been seeing it around on instagram and wondered about it.

Thank love <3 yeah, the bag is so cute and the day I wore this I got compliments on it so it's definitely a show stopper. But it's probably just gonna come out for quick nights out and photo shoots lol

I love that dress! I totally remember hearing about Hautelook and even bought a couple things years ago. I don’t know why I never went back onto it, but I’m thinking I should (:
kimberlysamantha says
Yeah when it first came out I didn’t use it much but I shop there ALL the time now, especially since it’s part of Nordstrom. The app has Hautelook and Nordstrom Rack on it so I can get myself into a lot of trouble when I’m on there lol

You will find that most people (nowadays) actually present themselves pretty accurately on social media. We are so used to social media as a form of expression our personalities just naturally shine in them. However yes, the occasional “flaw” is always welcomed in this glossy/touched up world! Plus it is SO MUCH more freeing isn’t it?

First of that dress is tooo cute sand second what you said about the image we present to the world struck home with me. I don’t think people understand how hard it is to balance what to put out there and what not to. too much and people think you are complaining and too little your being fake smh. What I’ve learned is to do you and the rest will fall in line.

Yes girl! YOU put it perfectly. <3

Head over heels in love with that dress, it looks so good on you! Ahh and I love that you styled it with that bag and those sandals. I also really liked reading your thoughts, and I do feel like just because some of the things we like are considerably “shallow” (like fashion etc), that doesn’t necessarily mean we are too, as people, or that we lead very shallow lives. The important thing is to live a life we want, while still paying attention to the world around us, right?
You have a gorgeous blog btw! I love your content, and I’d love if we can follow each other on Bloglovin maybe? Do let me know! Have a wonderful week xo
